We’ve considered eliminating the Lifetime Plex Pass in the past, given that recurring subscriptions help us sustain long-term development, but we know it’s still a valuable option for many in our community. So instead of retiring it, we’re keeping it available at a price that reflects the real, ongoing value of the software we’re committed to building and maintaining for years to come.

Plex raised the price of their lifetime pass from $120 to $250 back in March last year. Now just over a year later, they're raising again to a whopping $750! That is crazy!

Based on how they've phrased it, it sounds like they need to rely on the subscription model to survive, and too many people were taking the one-time lifetime price route. Looking at it, I can appreciate that they didn't just eliminate the lifetime pass - but I also think they would absolutely lose the majority of their patronage if they did. It makes me wonder, though, if they'll eliminate the lifetime pass in the future - and if that will extend to anyone that owned it to begin with.

I wonder if they're getting pressure from investors or corporate entities that want to see more out of the platform. It's just such a sticker shock to see the price rise by 200% in such a short amount of time from the last price hike.

There are other completely free options out there for what Plex is mainly used for. They have to stay competitive in order to remain relevant when these other options are meeting, and in some cases surpassing, what Plex has to offer from a self-host point of view... so this price hike just feels really irrational. What do you think?

So, Star Fox was announced. Nintendo gave a 10 minute warning for a live-streamed Star Fox Direct to make its announcement, which is a little crazy. It's a remake of Star Fox 64, but at the same time it feels like a necessary reboot to prove they can bring a classic into a modern era, and also the redesigned characters makes me feel like they're going to take the mythos a little more seriously than before. I dunno - I feel like this is a great sign for things to come for Star Fox as a brand!

This was correctly leaked by credible leaker NateTheHate, which was coupled with another big rumor that sounds more credible since this portion of his rumor/leak was true: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will supposedly be coming later this year towards the holiday season. Exciting if true! Maybe we'll get a little more headway of its announcement than we did with Star Fox...

My mind has been racing! What would this entail? The rumor is clearly labelled as a "Remake" whereas this Star Fox entry was labelled as a "New Entry" despite being an actual remake of a previous version.

It's just semantics, but the difference makes me wonder if this was misdirection on purpose. If Star Fox was a "new entry" but was a remake, then this remake of Ocarina of Time must be more than just a 1:1 rebuild of the game, right? I don't care either way. Even a 1:1 remaster of Ocarina of Time as it was on N64/3DS would make me happy - but that's not really going to sell many copies or bring enough intrigue.

What if they decided to change the formula up quite a bit? Is there a way to make Hyrule bigger and give it enough things to remain as interesting as it was? Do they make it "open air" like the later Zelda entries and allow you to go anywhere and do things in any order? How would that even work with the time travel mechanic?

There's probably a ton of different ways they could go about this. And while they can't please everyone, I wonder what they'll determine will please the majority! The prospect excites me. What does anyone else hope to see with a modern release of Ocarina of Time?

Personally, I just hope they meet and match the art direction OoT's been in. I don't want that to change, or be BotW style or any of that. I'll eat up whatever gameplay mechanics they decide to go with, but don't lose that classic middle-parted hair and anime style.
