Hello everyone! For my first article, I wanted to go over a few things to get on the same page, like what went through our minds when we decided to bring back a project from 20 years ago, if anyone even asked for this, etc.
When I took ownership of GameSekai back in 2005, I wanted to take an already thriving community that I loved and make sure I preserved it. I was lucky. I had an amazing team at my disposal who exceeded all the expectations I could hope for. They consistently went above and beyond, from things like the old Arcade (I miss it) and transforming the page for an April Fool's Day joke (Art for art's sake, Random Encounter ). As was well stated in Team Valiant's Full Circle article, its decline was only because of the inevitable evolution of the internet. And so it faded gracefully into the sunset for 20 years.
But we're not cut from the cloth most people are. We can appreciate our past, our roots, and what turned us into the people we are today. For me, a 20-something, running a website was one of the most important things I'd ever done, and it really did shape my life and my future. I discovered I had a natural knack for leadership. That led me professionally into managerial roles. I also discovered I had a passion for community management. I learned a lot of things about myself, personally and professionally. Valiant Gamers is honestly one of the best things that I ever did, but I didn't do it alone.
Anyways, I'm so glad that you're here, and I'd like to thank each and every one of you for coming along with us in our little experiment. I know, with your help, we can show the internet that the forum community format still has a place that nothing as of yet can truly do better, despite the newcomers like Discord doing a decent job. We're nostalgic but also realize the reality of a changing technological world, and let's be honest; our love for technology is part of the reason we're here today.
Here in the early days of Valiant Gamers' rebirth, we need your help in finding a new identity. A new trend. Please help us with any suggestions you have along the way. This is your community too, and I want to foster growth. I know we can, together.
Why Is Valiant Gamers Back?

As people grow older, the people and hobbies they identified with as teenagers may fall by the wayside. Gamers may give up gaming for the sake of a more adult lifestyle, or change the kinds of games they play. The people they once enjoyed hanging out with may be replaced by new co-workers, or not replaced at all but simply left behind. For some aging gamers, isolation and loss of identity can set in, leading to mental health issues on top of the physical health issues common to getting older. As...

When Althena proposed to Selbaek and me the idea of getting our online groove back, I wasn't sure what the future would look like. But in a year's time, we've had a lot of fun and have built a nice little community in the process. I look forward to another year of seeing where this community experiment takes us!
Tomorrow night at 7:30pm CT/8:30pm ET, we will be getting together on our Twitch channel to discuss what this last year's been like and what's in store. We...-

by Mr CroftAs of this writing, I currently have 350.6 hours in The First Descendant and the game is currently in the midpoint of its first season. I can personally say although the start of this game can be a slog; the endgame character building, seamless gameplay, and unique and fun characters compensates for a vast majority of its issues.
The First Descendant as of now has a total of 22 characters to play as; but starts by having you pick one of the three starting “Descendants”. The...1 Photo-

It stands to reason that one of the purposes of a video gaming community is to come together and play some games. To that end, we recently held our first site-wide game night this past Tuesday. The turnout was quite good, and a lot of fun was had playing the FPS classic Doom! Our plan is to hold a Valiant Together night once a month, with a different game each event. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please check out the forum for news and announcements for future events!...

by AdminThe next in our lineup of Valiant Gamer's Game of the Month is LUNAR: Eternal Blue Complete. Released in North America in 2000 by the famous Working Designs, this was the direct sequel to LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete. Taking place a thousand years after the events of the first game, it follows Hiro, a young adventurer and explorer who comes across a mysterious girl named Lucia, with a surprising link to the Blue Star. Together they meet a whole new band of characters, and see some old ones,...
