    Steam introduces native video recording

I saw that Steam introduced a new recording feature which works on PC and Steam Deck. In addition to the feature, it looks like it provides a basic editing studio and manager. They acknowledge it's only recording game and game audio to alleviate some of the privacy concerns (similar copilot). It looks it might be focused on shorter clips. The most unique feature I saw is the API that allows developers to have event-related recordings.

I guess this is neat, but I feel like there is a bigger picture that I'm missing behind why Steam would roll this feature out. What does everyone else thing?

I have not used this yet, as I just learned about it from your post. This might have been a highly requested feature for those that only have access to PC gaming via SteamOS/Steam Deck. With more users jumping to Bazzite OS for a SteamOS-like experience on native Windows handhelds (like ROG Ally, Ally X, Legion GO, and a few others), this could also be a nice feature for them to use, since there wouldn't be any built-in recording features like there is in Windows on those other Linux OSes.

In my opinion, I would rather use Steam's recording feature, especially if the simple editor actually works well versus the built-in methods on Windows. So, I think it's pretty neat that they added that ability with those features.
