Unreal, UT99 now free on Internet Archive

I guess I can't complain about UT99 no longer being on Steam for purchase! If you haven't played either of these, now you can for free thanks to Epic putting these on the Internet Archive. I sense another Valiant Together in the near future...

      Are the installers/launchers safe?

Yes. This was uploaded by Epic themselves.

I may be reading something incorrectly. I thought the ISO was uploaded by Old Unreal (a fangroup) with the permission of Epic. The installer/launcher (I may be using incorrect terminology) is a separate executable from the ISO and is intended to install a suite of things necessary to play UT on Windows 11. The installer/launcher is not hosted on archive.org.

Secondary question - Will the multiplayer modes from this install work with the steam/gog version for people who already have those?

That may be true, but in that case I would still trust the upload. They've done a lot to keep the Unreal scene going, including a community patch for UT99 that also had an official blessing from Epic.

As for multiplayer, as long as you're using the latest community patch I would assume the Steam and GOG versions would work with this version too.
