Light gun games (and their hopeful return)

Here's a kickstarter for what seems to be an amazing solution to the shortcomings of these LCD panels and fandangled digital TV signals. It comes with modified (but licensed!) versions of some classic Guncon games from the PS1 era (Time Crisis and Point Blank) and some that have been stuck to their arcade cabinets (Steel Gunner 1 and 2). What they have in the way of technology feels like a true advancement, and a way for the "light gun" (even though it's not using light anymore, I bet the term remains) genre to make quite a comeback.

I really enjoyed light gun games in the past. While there were some infared solutions as TV technologies were shifting (Guncon 3 and its infared sensors, anyone?) the trend ultimately died out and the style of game really only lives on in a VR capacity. I think it would be great if this caught on and made enough business sense to spark a resurgence of gun peripheral games for the standard TV screen.

I always liked light gun games, Big fan of Time Crisis and Silent Scope. I don't know if I would want to have any sniper gun peripherals but I'd enjoy trying something like a Time Crisis game. Not sure how my sharpshooting skills are this days, though...

I used to play Silent Scope at the arcade all the time! I would love a new one!

I never had the opportunity to play many of these, so most of my "light gun" gaming happened on the Wii. I love concept and would love to see it come back. I hope this goes through without a hitch!
