    Assassin's Creed 2 Discussion

Hello friends! The next game(s) I will be bringing to you is the Ezio Trilogy for the Assassin's Creed franchise. I am so excited to go on a trip to Italy with you. There are so many memorable characters, lines and meme-able moments in this game and I look forward to sharing it with you. Any questions about the games or comments and discussion will go here.

As much as I love Assassin's Creed, half of the fun I have with this playthrough has been being a public nuisance #1 to Italy's Couriers. Boxes must be broken.

Here's the Easter Egg in the last Assassin Tomb that we had trouble activating. :)

My biased tier list for AC games:

        1. Ezio Trilogy
        2. Shadows
        3. Odyssey
        4. Mirage
        5. Origins
        6. Valhalla
        7. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
        8. Assassin's Creed I
        9. Syndicate
        10. Unity
        11. Assassin's Creed III

Many criteria play into why I like and dislike certain games in the series. The RPG-era games (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage, Shadows) are high because they control great, though I'm against locking abilities and gear behind levels solely to pad out game time. Modern Ubisoft makes engaging Assassin's Creed titles, but development emphasizes micro-transactions too much since Unity and Syndicate.

Unity could be higher on my list, but its ending is really bad.
Syndicate's story is a lot of fun, but its gameplay has aged poorly. (Horse-drawn carriages SUCK!)

I will need to devote time to explain my distaste for Assassin's Creed III. It's a very sore spot for me.

I would love to hear it!I I really really really really wanted to love ACIII because I love Boston history, but it just didn't grab me. I will look into the others, though, thanks for the tier list!

I have been spending a lot of time offstream getting feathers. 50/100 so far!

Nice! I usually pull up a GameFAQs image with the location of all of the feathers and just go through the list one-by-one until I get them all.

I started playing through AC3 Remastered a bit in the past week for something to do. One of the big Cons I have with the game may be a Pro to some- for the first ~2-3 hours of the game, you play as Haytham Kenway. The game narratively sets this up to deliver a very good plot twist- SPOILERthe man you've been playing for the last several hours isn't an Assassin, but a Templar! Ubisoft does a very good job introducing the game's villains, but the gameplay is very on-rails and unsatisfying when you play as Kenway.

Assassin's Creed Shadows was meant to have a similarly lengthy opener, but they truncated the opening plot so the player gets to the action sooner. Instead, much of Shadows's non-essential backstory is experienced through flashbacks at the player's chosen pace, through side-quests. I think this choice was made purposely to avoid the same mistakes AC3's opening made. This could be a controversial choice for some people, but re-experiencing the start of AC3, it was a wise decision. Balancing plot and gameplay is a tricky hurdle for some of the Assassin's Creed series.

I feel like Assassin's Creed 3 was kind of the "WHAT A TWEEST" game.

                  Yeah, it most definitely was.

After Patrice Desilets was fired in the middle of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, they had no idea where to take the story. While trying to decide where to take things with the Modern Day, they made Revelations, which is an excellent finale to the Ezio Trilogy. But they had an expectation to end the Modern Day 2012 plot in Assassin's Creed, which also released in 2012. So they essentially had to end Desmond's storyline within one game, which had a lot of weight riding on it. It don't think it measured up, but the ride to get to AC3 is great so I can't complain.

I really like the twist in the opening though.

I really think I just need to finish AC3 just to say I did.

On a side note, I have collected 100/100 feathers! Ready to finish up tomorrow!

Also, I will leave you with this classic moment:

Finished the Bonfire of Vanities DLC, and just want to post Ezio's monologue at the end because it gives me chills, and it won't be on stream.
