Spiritual Successor to Parasite Eve?

This got announced a few weeks ago and I thought it looked really awesome. Definitely looking forward to checking it out when it releases.

Sukeban Games has also been working on their own, but I haven't heard any news on it since its initial announcement a year or two ago.

The combat looks very reminiscent of PE.

And with better melee, it looks like. My main concern with this is what kind of story they're going to have. PE's whole mitochondria conceit was a great sci-fi hook, but the story had a lot of things going on with the characters, their backgrounds and situations. I think it'll be quite a challenge for this new game to not only come up with its own original sci-fi concept (here's hoping it's not generic x-men stuff), but weave a story with it that has the depth and gravitas of PE.
