Today's song is from the Khan Super Session arrangement of Soul Blade, the precursor to the long-running Soul Calibur series. We got spoiled in the PS1 release of Soul Blade not only with orchestral versions of the arcade tracks, but cool tracks such as this one for Rock. Lots of hands were involved in the making of this album, so check out the VGMdb entry here!

I'm in love with that Hill Top Zone arrangement.

I'm also very biased in favor of Genesis Era Sonic content. Even so!

That was one of my favorites yet of Random Encounter's VGM picks.

My musical picks have been pretty biased lately in favor of the Genesis and FM music in general. There's just something so magical about the sound when it gets done right.

I'll probably start trying to branch out more in the coming days to sampled stuff like on the SNES. 😁

Happy Valentine's Day! To celebrate, today's song of the day is Theme of Love by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu, as featured on the Distant Worlds album. I hope you all have a lovely day and share some love with others in these trying times.

Today's song is the 2nd Orc theme from Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness, composed by Glenn Stafford. I haven't played WC2 in years, but this is the song that comes to mind immediately when I think of it.

                God, WC3 was phenomenal.

Today's track comes from 2013's Killer Instinct, scored by many but greatest among them is legend Mick Gordon. This is Sadira's theme, but this whole soundtrack has pretty much been my life this past weekend. Enjoy!

Today's song of the day is Lux Tizer's theme from The 7th Saga, composed by Norihiko Yamanuki. This game showed off the sound and graphic capabilities that the SNES could offer, and this song makes you feel like you really are on a journey.

It's been several days since our last track of the day, so let me remedy this with a pick Althena inadvertently put in my head: Edgar & Sabin's theme from Final Fantasy VI, composed by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu!

Today's song of the day comes to us from Kenichi Arakawa, who composed the soundtrack for the DS game The Dark Spire. This game was made for all the Wizardry nerds out there, so if you like old-school dungeon crawlers then I highly recommend it. Enjoy the game's battle theme!

SPOILERAnd if you choose to play the game in Classic mode, you'll get this instead:

Today's song is called Danger Lurks Ahead, from the SNES port of Eye of the Beholder. Tatsuya Nishimura composed the original tracks for this version, and they are IMO pretty sweet. I may pick a song down the road from the PC98 port of EotB, scored by none other than Yuzo Koshiro!
