  • The First Descendant

    The First Descendant

As of this writing, I currently have 350.6 hours in The First Descendant and the game is currently in the midpoint of its first season. I can personally say although the start of this game can be a slog; the endgame character building, seamless gameplay, and unique and fun characters compensates for a vast majority of its issues.

The First Descendant as of now has a total of 22 characters to play as; but starts by having you pick one of the three starting “Descendants”. The...

    Valiant Together and New Features

It stands to reason that one of the purposes of a video gaming community is to come together and play some games. To that end, we recently held our first site-wide game night this past Tuesday. The turnout was quite good, and a lot of fun was had playing the FPS classic Doom! Our plan is to hold a Valiant Together night once a month, with a different game each event. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please check out the forum for news and announcements for future events!...

Game of the Month June 2024- LUNAR 2: Eternal Blue Complete

The next in our lineup of Valiant Gamer's Game of the Month is LUNAR: Eternal Blue Complete. Released in North America in 2000 by the famous Working Designs, this was the direct sequel to LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete. Taking place a thousand years after the events of the first game, it follows Hiro, a young adventurer and explorer who comes across a mysterious girl named Lucia, with a surprising link to the Blue Star. Together they meet a whole new band of characters, and see some old ones,...

One GotM Down, Another to Come!

Thanks to Selbaek, we got two GotMs for the price of one. He graciously brought us both Mega Man Legends and its sequel for the month of April. We had a great turnout from the community during each stream, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

But you all didn't stop there! Thanks to you all, our first community-selected Game of the Month will be EarthBound! Random Encounter will be taking on this one, and the first EB stream will start on Thursday, May 2nd, at 7:30pm CST/ 8:30...

    Let Your Voice Be Heard!

The amount of support and enthusiasm the community has shown for our Game of the Month series has been nothing short of incredible! We really appreciate you all, and Valiant Gamers would be nothing without you!

Because this is a community effort, we want to play the games you want to see. April's GotM will be Mega Man Legends, brought to us by none other than Selbaek, but there are a lot more months in the year ahead of us. That's where you come in! Each month, we will put the Game...

  • Game of the Month March 2024: LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete

Game of the Month March 2024: LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete

Our second Game of the Month will be Game Art's/Working Design's LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete. Released in 1999, it is the PS1 successor to LUNAR: The Silver Star, for the Sega CD. It tells the story of Alex Noah, a determined boy from a peaceful mountain village, who wants to be a great hero. This game, though formulaic, set the standard for much of the genre going forward, and it has stayed relevant with its well written story, unique setting and loveable characters....

  • Why Is Valiant Gamers Back?

    Why Is Valiant Gamers Back?

Hello everyone! For my first article, I wanted to go over a few things to get on the same page, like what went through our minds when we decided to bring back a project from 20 years ago, if anyone even asked for this, etc.

When I took ownership of GameSekai back in 2005, I wanted to take an already thriving community that I loved and make sure I preserved it. I was lucky. I had an amazing team at my disposal who exceeded all the expectations I could hope for. They consistently went...

Game of the Month February 2024: Vagrant Story

Valiant Gamers' inaugural Game of the Month is Vagrant Story! Released in 2000, Vagrant Story tells the tale of Ashley Riot, a Riskbreaker agent investigating a corrupt politician with occult ties in the kingdom of Valendia. The game's setting takes place in Ivalice, the same world first featured in Final Fantasy Tactics and explored later in Final Fantasy XII. The gameplay is a hybrid of real-time action and tactics-oriented RPG elements. The soundtrack, composed by...

  • Full Circle

    Full Circle

Before 2001, the Internet looked much different than it does today. Google was still in its early days, and large social media hubs like Reddit and Facebook weren't even a concept. Most online traffic centered around scattered pockets of forums and chat rooms. One such forum, Gamingforce, hosted a user base passionate not only for video games but also video game music.

In 2001, a handful of Gamingforce users, eager to realize their own vision, set off to make an online space of their...
